Amuri Area School is a rural state co-educational school on School Road in Culverden, 98km north-west of Christchurch on the Lewis Pass Highway. It is 30 minutes drive from Hanmer Springs and 60 minutes drive from Christchurch.

 

The school’s catchment area is from the Hurunui River in the south to the Waiau River in the north, Lowry Peaks in the east and Culverden range/Leslie Hills to the west. The school is one of 34 truly rural Area Schools in New Zealand providing education for students from Year 0 to Year 13 and currently has a roll of 278 students made up of 78 Year 1-6 and 200 Year 7-13.

Schools in Hanmer Springs (Year 1-8), Waiau (Years 1-6) and Rotherham (Years 1-6) provide primary education in these areas and students generally come to Amuri for their senior years.

Darfield High is located in a beautiful, safe environment near ski-fields, lakes and forests. It is 40 km from Christchurch city and its international airport. The school has high academic standards, with friendly, well-qualified staff.

Places are available for International students from Year 7 - 13 (ages 11 - 18+). We offer a wide range of subjects at senior levels (Years 11 - 13). We also have excellent ESOL programmes to meet individual needs.
Darfield High School was a finalist in TradeNZ "The Services Exporter of the Year Award" in 2000.

Geraldine High School

Established in 1971, Kaikoura High School is a co-educational Year 7-13 school that offers a wide range of academic and non-academic courses in the senior school, with the aim of preparing students either for meaningful employment when they leave school, or further training or tertiary education. We are very proactive as a school at ensuring that we look for all opportunities to enhance opportunities for our students.

In 2008 and 2009 we were part of the Extending High Standards Across Schools (EHSAS) initiative, funded by the Ministry of Education. We were part of a collaborative cluster of 7 Canterbury schools. This project was aimed at raising achievement for all students.

In 2010 we are very excited to have been awarded an Information Technology (ICT) professional development contract to allow us to enhance the use of ICT in our teaching programmes. We are joining with Mountainview High School and Roncalli College in Timaru for this 3 year project. This is another Ministry of Education funded contract.

Opihi College

The change of our school name from Temuka High School to Opihi College is a reflection of the beginning of a new era for our school. The literal translation of the name 'Opihi' - to spring forth, is symbolic of the many developments within our school.

The Setting

The College is located in Timaru, a town of 28,000 less than two hours drive from the international airport of Christchurch and 2 hours north of Dunedin.

Facilities

The College is set in 3.1 hectares of grounds. The most recent facilities are a gymnasium (completed in 1998) and a new technology complex completed in 2002. Within the immediate vicinity there is access to squash courts, a covered swimming pool and our near neighbours the Aoraki Polytechnic.

Academic Programmes

The College emphasizes a broad based programme in academic subjects. These include English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Economics, Music, Physical Education and Technology. Many students also study a range of other subjects such as Art, Hospitality and career-based options.

Twizel Area School

Twizel Area School is located near Mt Cook and Lake Pukaki, in the South Island of New Zealand. The school caters for students of both sexes from age 5 up to age 18. Our school’s purpose is to help all students achieve to the best of their individual abilities, to enjoy success in learning and school life, and to grow up as responsible, motivated and confident young people. This is what we aim to achieve in our daily work. To assist us achieve this, we have become committed to the Quality Schools philosophy, which is aimed at fostering self motivation and self management in a non-coercive environment. Waimate High School

Waimate High School has proudly served the Waimate area of South Canterbury, New Zealand since 1929. At Easter weekend, 2004 the school celebrated its 75th Jubilee.

In the past 75+ years we have built up a very fine record of academic, cultural and sporting achievements. Many of our ex-students have left our community and are now living and working in many different countries around the world. Most still keep in contact with their  "old school".

Today, we are a decile 4 school of 385 Year 7 to 13 students.

Waitaki Girls' High

Waitaki Girls' High School is a state secondary school for girls founded in 1887 and located in Oamaru in the South Island of New Zealand.  We have a roll of about 430 girls including a good number of international students.

We offer a wide range of subjects, both academic and vocational, and our students achieve excellent results in national examinations. Students can enjoy a wide range of sports and cultural activities including interhouse sports, choir and drama competitions.
